June 16th: framing continues! Rain continues. There are areas in Tremonton that had streets and basements flooding. Although our lot is a mud bog, we're relieved not to see any real signs of flooding issues (so far) in the immediate area.

Jake Shepherd, from West Point, Utah is doing our framing. He's brought up a camp trailer up to minimize the commute. I think Jen would like to move in with him -- just to be closer to the house.

We've gone over our plans SO many times it's surprising to me how many things escaped my attention:

  • The stairwell is four feet wide. How did I not notice that?
  • The basement hall closets are bigger than I expected.
  • There are 3'0" doors everywhere, which are also quite wide.
  • The framing around the fireplace is stout. It is part of the central part of the house that the joists and clerestory rest on. Which I knew, but dang, it's got more 2x6's than Utah county has multi-level marketeers.
