Friday, June 19th, the framers installed tongue/groove flooring, and nailed down plating for the main floor. Due to Chris's urging that someday we might want carpet, they also installed an extra 2x4 around each perimeter to use for nailing tackstrip. Jen denies that she will ever want carpet. It also will make the framers lives a little easier in the event that they need to move a wall a little after the concrete is poured for the radiant heat.

Saturday the heavens opened up some more. Bothwell averages 13 inches of rain/snow equivilant per year, and .85 inches in June. This month we've had 3.5 inches of rain, so far. Because of the perimeter framing, we had a very shallow pond sitting on top of the house. Jen and I weren't sure just how bad this was for the flooring, so when the rain stopped (just before midnight) we thought we should try and remove the standing water from off the top.

Our boots were covered with inches of wet clay once we slipped to the side of the house, so we left them on the ground and jumped up to the decking in our bare feet. The sky became crystal clear as we swept the surprisingly cold water off of the decking. Just Jen and I with numb feet and headlamps in the black starry night with the sound of waves of water crashing over the sides and onto the ground.
